Why does both "borracho' and also "borrachon" both mean the same word in Spanish?

The ending -n is augmentative in Spanish. When added to the word 'borracho' it makes him even more of a drunkard. If a diminutive such as -ito were added, a borrachito would only be a little bit drunk or drunk in an endearing way.
