I am gonna be living in perth for 10 weeks, Is it a nice place to live in?

I will be doing my medical elective in Fremantle Hospital in November and December! 10 weeks. I live in Amman, Jordan and I was wondering what kind of place Perth is in terms of beaches, restaurants, nightlife, entertainment and leisure in general. and how are the people there? Is it a nice place to visit in Australia or I should have applied to Sydney or Melbourne! and how much does it cost to live there?
