Why would gay people want to be christians when the bible preaches against it?

They were raised that way. I had a friend in high school who was a gay Christian. He tried to "convert," not from his religion but from his sexuality. Needless to say, it didn't work out. I feel really sorry for these people. They're convinced that they're evil and that their sexuality is their fault, and their preachers confirm that. It makes me sick. Homosexuality is perfectly normal and natural. They're basically caught between their faith and sexuality, and are doomed to a miserable life as a result. Twisted world, isn't it?
